Why substance and form must coincide
There is no such thing as society without mutual comprehension and without acceptance of diversity. Getting to grips with each others expectations, understanding the impact of perception, it is by no means an accidental affair.
It acquires a stubborn belief and prolonged efforts. Perhaps our adherence to stereotypes and tightlock prejudices is just as deeprooted as our sense of music. What’s the upbeat of it all? Needless to say that music is a powerful ally to overcome typecasting.
Music education activates people and prompts them to learn and live together. This is all about actief pluralisme! Schools in general and music academies in particular, all have the same paramount goal. There’s of course this theoretical cliché of education being less about knowledge an more about learning how to process that knowledge, about how to acquire the right mindset and attitude to become actively involved in an increasingly diverse society. The cliché definitely applies. But it will also involve taking into consideration all kinds of differences if we truly want to adopt an inclusive approach.
In plain terms: however talented you may be as a kid, if you think yourself obstructed by too many setbacks, such as gender or ethnical considerations or simply lack the financial means to take up lessons, your talent will definitely need every bit of encouragement.
Diversity in the mix
Our mix-platform is all about music education. We know how much teachers matter, they are the quintessential note in successful music practice. Whether you learn to dive into music individually, in a band or together in a classroom, every aspiration needs to be put to work, inspiringly. Education sometimes still shows this tendency to proceed in an overall rhythm that applies to all. Inevitably, learning patterns will deviate, away from average. Sometimes, differences between individual performances will become too big. Does a regular music class offer sufficient didactic and content backup scenarios? How to inspire proficient and less proficient students likewise? Are there any additional ways to bring about in depth experiences, taking into account those individual expectations? This will involve participants to be able to compare, to reflect, to conceptualize and to analyze their personal track record. Being a 21st century music teacher, it is obviously an awe-inspiring soundscape. How on earth can you meet all those individual aspirations?

Averse to “yeah, but, no, but”, we are very much aware of the naivete of our ambition. In fact, we would invite you to cherish that same attitude. Performing,
or teaching youngsters to perform, or making adequate choices as a music teacher. Anyone who dares to admit it, nothing compares to the joy of music.

mix wants to zoom in on cultural diversity. That includes language-based differences, social differences, any customs and habits that show through in music and gender as a musical compound.
mix will equally focus on diversity as an individual component. This will involve how to deal with a broad scope on talent, the importance of age and diversity management related to the need of an increased attention.

mix hopes to inspire, it is an additional perspective that may offer you just the right inspiration and insight to meet that one particular musical need of one of your students. Not just one of course, but hopefully many more. Last but not least, we favor exchange. mix is a whole new world of exchange, allowing knowledge and experiences to be shared with peers on a local, national and European level.
